Active Initiatives

Action is how a promise becomes real.

The Hafez Foundation's work lives in two active commitments: tutoring young refugees as they build new lives in a new language, and running drives that put the tools of learning into the hands of those who need them most.

Initiative One

Keeping Our Promise.

We made a commitment to young people displaced from war — that education wouldn't stop at the border. Through structured, one-on-one and small-group tutoring, we give refugee youth the academic foundations they need to move forward with confidence.

Our volunteers work directly with students on the subjects that matter most for integration, academic progress, and future opportunity — meeting them where they are, not where a curriculum says they should be.

Active & Accepting Students
01

English Language

Reading, writing, speaking, and listening — for students at every level, from basic literacy to academic fluency. Language is the first door we open.

02

Mathematics

From foundational arithmetic to algebra and beyond. We build numeracy skills that translate across school systems and open doors to further study.

03

Academic Support

Homework help, test preparation, and study skills for students already enrolled in school — so they can keep up, catch up, and get ahead.

Education as a form of keeping faith.

Many of the students we work with have experienced interruptions to their schooling that no child should face. Some have spent years in displacement before arriving here. Others arrived mid-school-year, dropped into classrooms where the language and curriculum were entirely unfamiliar.

Our tutors — many of whom share cultural backgrounds with the students they serve — don't just teach subjects. They build trust. They show up consistently, which is itself a message: you belong here, and your education matters.

The name "Keeping Our Promise" is deliberate. It reflects our belief that society owes these young people a real chance — and that we, as a foundation, are accountable to delivering on it.

Initiative Two

The tools of learning belong to everyone.

Knowledge needs infrastructure. Our community drives collect and distribute the physical resources that make learning possible — ensuring no student is held back by what they don't have.

Each drive is organised around a specific need and delivered directly to families and students in our community. No waiting lists, no bureaucracy — just resources in the right hands.
